Savoye teams up with ILA to distribute packaging machines in Turkey which will help cut CO2

Savoye, a market leader in automated logistics and software solutions for supply chains, has formally partnered with ILA for the marketing of its packaging machines on the Turkish market.

As one of the main integrators of handling systems in Turkey, ILA has been given ‘carte blanche’ to promote, sell and install Savoye entire automated packaging range, as well as combine with its own equipment and ensure on-site maintenance.

The partnership could be said to come at exactly the right time, following Turkey’s recent announcement concerning its ambitions for the reduction of CO2 emissions generated by the road transport industry and in particular trucks.

What benefits the JIVARO machine brings to the table

In particular, this range of packaging machines includes the Jivaro, a parcel closing machine which automatically adapts the height of boxes to its filling. The device also choses an appropriate cardboard format and measures the height of its contents. It then proceeds to cut the corners and fold down the edges of the box, before finally closing it securely with a cap. The machine is adapted to pack the main types of boxes and has 4 capping magazines, so that several types of carton can be made at the same time. There is also a Jivaro Print option, which enables the caps to be personalised before they are securely fastened to the top of the box.

The Jivaro machine is therefore perfectly equipped to meet the requirements of the Turkish market, particularly in strong growth sectors, such as e-commerce, textiles or retail, which are all gradually returning to normal levels after the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Specially designed to optimise the size/shipped cost ratio, the Jivaro automatically wraps parcels in the best shipping format. It does not use any plastic filling or other filling materials, and the height calculation enables the cap to stabilise its contents, guaranteeing its integrity during transport. With an overall capacity of 14 cases per minute, the Jivaro creates packages which are easy to open and reusable, ensuring customer satisfaction.

An environmentally friendly concept

In addition to making sure that the shipment is secure and its substantial material savings, the Jivaro also distinguishes itself through its environmentally friendly attributes. While saving on filling material and using packaging which can easily be reused, the machine has also been specially designed to reduce shipping volumes as much as possible, to optimise the filling of trucks, therefore reducing their circulation and limiting its CO2 emissions.

“It’s not just a question of automating processes, but also preserving the planet by reducing the number of packages and the amount of transportation” ILA’s general manager, Mr Emre Yenal, reminds us.

A partnership in line with the Turkish authorities’ political stance

The partnership is a major asset for the Turkish market in view of its recent environmental ambitions. A resolution was announced on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 by the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu as part of the Transport and Logistics Master Plan for 2053. The provision aims to promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly vision of the future for the country through the reduction and rationalisation of road transport for both passengers and goods. These efforts will significantly contribute towards the reduction of carbon emissions in Turkey.

The partnership between Savoye and ILA for the distribution of packaging machines such as the Jivaro on Turkish soil therefore appears to make perfect sense. This is especially the case, given that the rationalisation of transport space reflects the country’s recent environmental ambitions over the next 30 years, as mapped out by Minister Karaismailoğlu.
